on the 12th anniversary of 9-11, blair County honored 9 local military members who died in iraq and afghanistan. the 8th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona is now known as “the bridge of heroes.” they are: Staff Sergeant Matthew Ingham…Specialist Michael Hook… Petty Officer Robert Jenkins…and Private First Class Larry Parks Junior, all of altoona. from Hollidaysburg: Sergeant Brandon Adams… Gunnery Sergeant Ronald Baum…Sergeant Curtis Forshey…and Staff Sergeant Daniel Lightner. as well as Specialist Chad Edmundson of Williamsburg.


26 volunteers recently worked to clean up The Juniata River. they pulled more than 2 tons of rusty metal, plastic tarps, shopping carts, bicycles, 47 tires, and other trash from the river. 


and Bilger’s Rocks NEAR GRAMPIAN in Clearfield County COULD become the 8th Wonder of the World. an online competition IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY, sponsored by Virtual-tourist-DOT-com. Hundreds of places IN THE WORLD are ALSO in the RUNNING, but Bilger’s IS ALREADY AMONG the top 50 vote getters. The contest runs through September 30TH.
