Johnstown Fire CREWS rescued a man from the SWOLLEN Stonycreek River LAST Thursday morning. he apparently had gone into the river, near Sandyvale Memorial Gardens, to save a dog. HE got the animal to safety, but COULDN’T scale the steep concrete river walls.FIREMEN USED ROPES TO PULL HIM UP. NEITHER HE NOR THE DOG WERE HURT.

HERE’S SOME Good news for THOSE WHO get help FROM the LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE  program. the Department of Public Welfare SAYS SOME LEFTOVER federal funding will go towards mostly older adults and people with disabilities to HELP THEM pay their utility bills. More than 122-THOUSAND hoUSEHOLDS will get an extra 200 DOLLARS. The heating assistance season begins in November.

AND David "Chip" Wonderling HAS BEEN the MAYOR OF Brookville IN JEFFERSON COUNTY for the last 12 years. NOW, HE’S WON PA MAYOR OF THE YEAR. WONDERLING HAS ALSO served as a fireman, Eagle Leader, and is still president of the Brookville Cemetery Club. He’LL BE retiring in January.
