THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED OUT WITH OUR EMERGENCY TURKEY DRIVE SATURDAY AT ALTOONA’S GIANT EAGLE STORE. WE COLLECTED MORE THAN 300 TURKEYS TO HELP OUT THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL FOOD BANK THIS THANKSGIVING. SPECIAL THANKS TO CENTRAL HYDRAULICS WHO DONATED 100 TURKEYS!

 

3 altoona and 4 hollidaysburg high school students have been recognized as national merit commended scholars for 2014. they placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1-point-5 million students who entered the competition by taking the p-s-a-t test. confrogulations to ian adams, olga dorabiala, larissa gil, caitlyn edgell, aaron logue, mira patel, and anna springer.

11 Penn State students have received Fulbright scholarships to support their work abroad in 2013 and 2014. the university says the students are working in chile, germany, Croatia, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Tanzania and Kenya.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Lottery SAY a Cash 5 ticket worth 225-THOUSAND DOLLARS, LESS TAXES, was sold AT THE DUBOIS GIANT EAGLE FOR last MONDAY’S DRAWING. THE ticket correctly matched all 5 numbers. The store will get a 500 DOLLAR bonus.
