A police chase endED YESTERDAY WHEN CAMBRIA COUNTY SHERIFF BOB KOLAR WRESTLED A SWITCHBLADE FROM THE HAND OF 46 YEAR OLD ROBERT PREBELLA. the tribune democrat says Police tried to serve a warrant in the Revloc area, BUT PREBELLA FLED AND led them on a chase for about 20 minutes UNTIL HE CRASHED HIS CAR INTO A GATE AT CENTRAL CAMBRIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. PREBELLA THEN got out of the car with a beer in one hand and a blade in the other and threatened to cut his own throat. Kolar WAS ABLE TO MAKE HIM DROP the knife. he’S FACING A LONG LIST OF CHARGES.

killer sentenced to death

A WESTMORELAND COUNTY JURY YESTERDAY SENTENCED 52 YEAR OLD KEVIN MURPHY OF Indiana County to death for THE 2009 SHOOTing DEATHS OF his mother, sister and elderly aunt. deliberatIONS LASTED about 7 hours. THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY SAYS Murphy killed the women because they disapproved of his relationship with a married woman. AN Appeal WILL BE FILED SOON.

Jerry Sandusky is BEHIND BARS, serving a 30 YEAR SENTENCE, BUT State Police Commissioner FRANK NOONAN SAYS THIS IS STILL AN OPEN CASE WITH TROOPERS ON THE JOB AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE IN CHARGE. Sandusky WAS CONVICTED OF ABUSING 10 victims AND Penn State is negotiating with up to 30 reported victims for settlements. Recently, THERE HAVE BEEN reports of more coming forward.

redistricting approved

The State Supreme Court HAS upheld new legislative maps THAT WILL BE PLACE FOR THE 2014 ELECTION. The first version of the 2012 redistricting maps approved by the general assembly was tHROWN   out by the Court because the new lines divided too many counties, municipalities and communities into different districts. The new maps ARE BASED ON population shifts that have occurred since the 2000 Census. in oUR AREA, Bedford County WILL MOVE from the 30th District of Senator John Eichelberger to the 35th District of John Wozniak. MANY Democrats SAY the ENTIRE process was designed to provide political advantage to the majority REPUBLICAN party.

THE HOLLIDAYSBURG AREA SCHOOL BOARD UNANIMOUSLY VOTED LAST NIGHT TO HIRE LONG-TIME ADMINISTRATOR ROBERT GILDEA AS THE NEW SUPERINTENDENT. HE’LL REPLACE PAUL GALLAGHER WHO IS STEPPING DOWN AFTER 14 YEARS. GILDEA IS A HOLLIDAYSBURG NATIVE WHO HAS WORKED AS A TEACHER, COACH, PRINCIPAL, AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR IN THE DISTRICT SINCE 1990.
