Heroin overdoses

 

An apparent HEROIN OVERDOSE TUESDAY IN THE STATE COLLEGE AREA. Ferguson Township Police were called to 711 West Cherry Lane for an unresponsive male. 21 year old Joel Rathod of Frederick, Maryland, was DEAD inside his apartment AND Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found inside. Preliminary field tests indicate heroin AND Results of the autopsy are pending toxicological examination. Anyone with information is asked to call Police at 237-11-72.

 

Cambria County officials TELL WJAC THAT the heroin that led to a dozen overdoses in the greater Johnstown area last week did not contain THE PAINKILLER fentanyl, BUT IT WAS CLEARLY POWERFUL. THAT COMBINATION HAD BEEN LINKED TO AT LEAST 22 DEATHS IN THE PITTSBURGH AREA EARLIER THIS YEAR. Officials also said 2 additional arrests HAVE BEEN MADE for dealing the “7 OF HEARTS” HEROIN. Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan says Irief Littleberry and a 17-year-olD GIRL ARE IN CUSTODY ALONG WITH AARON WALTERS OF JOHNSTOWN. POLICE FOUND heroin, FENTANYL, and drug paraphernalia AT HIS HOME 2 weeks ago.

the altoona mirror reports that philip schultz and scott perkins of altoona have been ordered to stand trial. the 2 were arrested in early april when police found a suspect methamphetamine lan at a juniata home. misty perkins previously waived her preliminary hearing. all 3 are in the blair county prison on 100-thousand dollars cash bond.

 

doctor indicted

JOHNSTOWN pain management doctor GLENN DAVIS was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday and was TAKEN INTO CUSTODY Wednesday. HIS home and office were raided by federal AGENTS LAST May AND THE U-S Attorney’S OFFICE saYS Davis was giving out excessive amountS of prescription pain medicine. Davis is due in court Monday. If convicted, HE could face 20 years in prison…a fine of one million dollars…or both.

STATE COLLEGE Police SAY AN ON-GOING scam IS TARGETING customers of West Penn Power. SOME HAVE received calls indicating their West Penn Power bill is overdue and THEY ARE ADVISED to call an 800 number. a PERSON with a strong accent tells the customer they MUST SEND “money pack” or “money orders” for payment. INSTEAD, Customers SHOULD follow West Penn Power procedures before making any type of payment.

VOTING ENDS AT 9AM TODAY IN THE PENN STATE board of trustees ELECTION. updated voting numbers RELEASED Wednesday show 29-THOUSAND-208 alumni have cast ballots. Last year, about 33-THOUSAND had voted going into the final day. the results will be announced TOMORROW at the trustees meeting at University Park.
