MURDER TRIAL WINDING DOWN

CLOSING ARGUMENTS ARE SCHEDULED TODAY IN THE SOMERSET COUNTY MURDER TRIAL OF 33 YEAR OLD CALVIN MALLORY JUNIOR OF BROOKLYN NEW YORK.
HE’S ACCUSED OF HIRING MEN TO KILL DRUG DEALER BRYANT ADDERLY AT HIS BAKERSVILLE HOME IN 2009. ON THE WITNESS STAND THIS WEEK, TORIANO MCCRAY AND RONALD WASHINGTON ADMITTED TO GUNNING DOWN ADDERLEY. THEY HAVE PLEADED GUILTY AND WILL BE SENTENCED NEXT MONTH.

MOTHER CHARGED WITH MURDER

A HUNTINGDON COUNTY JUDGE MUST DECIDE IF MARIA BOYD’S DEFENSE TEAM CAN HIRE A FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST FOR HER MURDER TRIAL. THE CORONER SAYS THE BABY DIED FROM BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA AND ALSO HAD SEVERAL BROKEN BONES AND ALCOHOL IN HIS SYSTEM.

MISSING MAN FOUND DEAD

87 YEAR OLD GEORGE RACHAEL LEFT HIS HOME IN DUNLO, CAMBRIA COUNTY, BACK ON MARCH 4TH…AND HIS BODY WAS FOUND THIS WEEK IN SHADE TOWNSHIP, SOMERSET COUNTY. POLICE SAY 2 MEN RIDING ATV’S DISCOVERED RACHAEL INSIDE HIS PICKUP TRUCK IN A WOODED AREA NEAR THE QUARRY. THE SOMERSET COUNTY CORONER SAID RACHEL DIED FROM NATURAL CAUSES. 

ACCUSED CROSS-BURNER WILL GO TO TRIAL

A PHILIPSBURG MAN IS FACING FEDERAL CHARGES FOR ALLEGEDLY BURNING A CROSS OUTSIDE A WOMAN’S WOODLAND HOME IN 2010. 20 YEAR OLD RYAN HELD IS SCHEDULED TO STAND TRIAL MAY 21ST IN JOHNSTOWN. HE’S FACING UP TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON. ACCORDING TO THE INDICTMENT, HELD TRIED TO INTIMIDATE A BLACK MAN WHO HAD BEEN STAYING WITH THE WHITE WOMAN.

FIRES

AN ELDERLY JOHNSTOWN-AREA WOMAN IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE…THANKS TO HER HERO NEIGHBOR. AUTHORITIES SAY MAX HOMWAY PULLED THE WOMAN FROM HER BURNING HOME ON OLD ORCHARD WAY IN UPPER YODER TOWNSHIP ABOUT 10:30 WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE HOMEOWNER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AND THE STATE POLICE FIRE MARSHAL BELIEVES A FAULTY EXTENSION CORD CAUSED THE BLAZE.

A STATE POLICE FIRE MARSHAL IN WINDBER SAYS A HOUSE FIRE EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY ELECTRICAL OUTLET IN THE BEDROOM OF A 16-YEAR OLD BOY. HE REPORTEDLY WAS SLEEPING WHEN HE WOKE UP AROUND 2:30 AND HIS BED WAS ON FIRE. THE TEEN AND HIS FAMILY ESCAPED UN-HURT FROM THE HOUSE ON THE 22-HUNDRED BLOCK OF GRAHAM AVENUE. 

GOVERNOR TOM CORBETT HAS ORDERED ALL PENNSYLVANIA FLAGS TO FLY AT HALF-STAFF THROUGH SATURDAY IN HONOR OF 2 FIREFIGHTERS WHO DIED IN A HUGE WAREHOUSE FIRE MONDAY IN PHILADELPHIA. FUNERALS FOR LIEUTENANT ROBERT NEARY AND DANIEL SWEENY WILL BE HELD SATURDAY.

SORORITY MEMBERS DUE IN COURT

PRELIMINARY HEARINGS ARE SCHEDULED TODAY FOR 2 MEMBERS OF PENN STATE ALTOONA’S GAMMA PHI BETA SORORITY. 20 YEAR OLD BROOKE NOLAN OF PHILADELPHIA AND 22 YEAR OLD ANGELA KIM OF VIRGINIA ARE CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND OTHER OFFENSES AFTER THEY AND OTHERS ALLEGEDLY BEAT A VISITOR UNCONSCIOUS WHEN THEY ARGUED OVER A STOLEN BOTTLE OF VODKA. IT HAPPENED LAST MONTH DURING A PARTY AT THE NITTANY POINTE APARTMENTS. THE VICTIM SUFFERED A CONCUSSION.

ACCORDING TO USA TODAY, JERRY SANDUSKY’S DEFENSE HAS COST AN ESTIMATED 200-THOUSAND DOLLARS…AND HIS LAWYER SAID UNCERTAIN FINANCIAL RESOURCES HAVE CAUSED THE DEFENSE TEAM TO FOREGO PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING OF THE FORMER COACH. SPANIER’S NEW GIG

THE HARRISBURG PATRIOT NEWS REPORTS THAT FORMER PENN STATE PRESIDENT GRAHAM SPANIER WILL SOON BEGIN A NEW JOB. IN AN EMAIL, SPANIER SAID HE’LL BE WORKING FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON PROJECTS RELATED TO NATIONAL SECURITY. SPANIER SAYS THIS WILL BUILD ON HIS PRIOR POSITIONS WORKING WITH FEDERAL AGENCIES TO FOSTER IMPROVED COOPERATION BETWEEN THE COUNTRY’S NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCIES AND OTHER ENTITIES. DEPARTMENT SPOKESWOMAN MARIA FINN SAYS THE CITATIONS REFLECT ONLY A FRACTION OF THE NUMBER OF WARNINGS HANDED OUT…AND THAT NUMBER DOES NOT INCLUDE FIGURES FROM MUNICIPAL POLICE.
