GRICAR TIP UNFOUNDED -
FBI OFFICIALS SAY A TIP ABOUT THE WHEREABOUTS OF MISSING PROSECUTOR RAY GRICAR IS UNFOUNDED. AUTHORITIES SAY THE TIP CAME FROM AN INMATE WHO SAID RAY GRICAR WAS KILLED BY A MEMBER OF THE HELLS ANGELS MOTORCYCLE GROUP. THE TIP TOOK POLICE TO A PENNSYLVANIA MINE SHAFT BUT OFFICERS SAY NOTHING WAS FOUND.
ARREST IN OSCEOLA MILLS -
AN OSCEOLA MILLS MAN IS IN JAIL AFTER IT WAS REPORTED TO POLICE THAT HE PASSED OUT IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITH TWO HANDGUNS LYING NEAR HIM ON FRIDAY NIGHT. 44-YEAR-OLD DAVID NORMAN JOHNSON WAS ARRAIGNED ON SEVERAL GUN CHARGES AS WELL AS PUBLIC DRUNKENESS AND RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING. STATE POLICE IN CLEARFIELD SAY JOHNSON HAD LEFT THE AREA WHEN THEY ARRIVED AT THE OSCEOLA MILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BUT WAS FOUND ABOUT A BLOCK AWAY. THEIR REPORT SAYS JOHNSON HAD LEFT FIVE UNLOADED HANDGUNS IN THE AREA OF THE SCHOOL AND POSSESSED TWO KNIVES. THEY CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT.
WATER BACK ON IN HUNTINGDON-
Most of Huntingdon Borough was without water on sunday afternoon after A water main burst around 4:00 on Fairgrounds Road in Smithfield Township. a water renovation project was already causing some low Water levels. huntingdon county emergency management issued water restrictions as crews worked to repair the leak. those restrictions expired at 9 last night. A small number of people who live close to the leak site will have to boil their water. they were to be contacted by huntingdon county ema.
FORMER ELEMENTARY BUILDING COULD BE PLACED IN “KOZ” PROGRAM-
TODAY’S ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT THE FORMER WRIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BUILDING OWNED BY THE ALTOONA AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT COULD BE PLACED IN THE STATE’S “KEYSTONE OPPORTUNITY ZONE” PROGRAM. THAT PROGRAM PROVIDES BUSINESSES THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP ON LAND WITH GREATLY REDUCED STATE AND LOCAL TAXES. CURRENTLY, THE BUILDING DOESN’T GENERATE ANY TAX REVENUE FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE ONLY OFFERS SO FAR FOR THE BUILDING HAVE BEEN FROM TAX-EXEMPT ENTITIES. PLACING THE BUILDING IN THE “KEYSTONE OPPORTUNITY ZONE” PROGRAM WOULD BE AN INCENTIVE TO DRAW TAXPAYING BUSINESSES.

LEGISLATORS IN PENNSYLVANIA ARE SCHEDULED TO RETURN TO WORK IN HARRISBURG TODAY AND A MAJOR PIECEOF LEGISLATION THAT DIDN’T MAKEIT THIS PAST SUMMER COULD COME BACK UP FOR DEBATE. THE HARRISBURG PATRIOT NEWS REPORTS THAT SOME FORM OF A LIQUOR PRIVATIZATION BILL COULD BE BROUGHT UP IN THIS FALL SESSION. SOME LEGISLATORS SAY THERE COULD BE A 50-50 CHANCE THAT ANOTHER BILL THAT WOULD CHANGE HOW LIQUOR IS SOLD IN PENNSYLVANIA COULD BE BROUGHT UP IN THE STATE SENATE FOR A VOTE.
GOVERNOR’S REPS MEET WITH CENTERS FOR MEDICARE & MEDICAID -
some of governor tom corbett’s top aides are scheduled to meet in baltimore today with officials from the centers for medicare and medicaid services. corbett has agreed to use federal medicaid expansion dollars to cover hundreds of thousands of uninsured adults, but he wants some changes made to the affordable healthcare act. Corbett wants to place requirements on Medicaid recipients involving work and cost sharing.

RAPE REPORTED ON PSU UNIVERSITY PARK CAMPUS -
PENN STATE POLICE SAY A STUDENT WAS ALLEGEDLY RAPED IN AN EAST HALLS DORM EARLY SATURDAY MORNING ON THE UNIVERSITY PARK CAMPUS.. ACCORDING TO STATE-COLLEGE-DOT-COM, THE SUSPECT IS KNOWN BY THE VICTIM. CHARGES HAVE NOT YET BEEN FILED, BUT POLICE DID ISSUE A CAMPUS ALERT ABOUT THE INCIDENT.
