STUDENTS SEARCHED/NO WEAPONS FOUND

THINGS ARE BACK ON SCHEDULE AT ALTOONA HIGH SCHOOL AFTER AN INCIDENT THIS MORNING. A PARENT OF A STUDENT REPORTED THAT A WEAPON AND AMMUNITION WERE MISSING FROM THE HOME. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IMMEDIATELY RESTRICTED ENTRY TO ONE LOCATION AND CHECKED ALL STUDENTS AND THEIR BACKPACKS. NO WEAPONS OR AMMUNITION WERE FOUND. THE STUDENT OF CONCERN DID REPORT TO SCHOOL AND WAS NOT CARRYING ANY WEAPON. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT’S POLICE DEPARTMENT AND ALTOONA POLICE ARE COORDINATING THE INVESTIGATION.

TRAGEDY IN HUNTINGCON COUNTY

POLICE SAY 53 YEAR OLD JILL SKETHWAY OF MARYSVILLE PA WAS KILLED SATURDAY AFTERNOON WHEN SHE WAS ACCIDENTALLY RUN OVER BY HER HUSBAND ALONG PINEY RIDGE ROAD IN JUNIATA TOWNSHIP. TROOPERS SAY SKETHWAY WAS HELPING COVER THEIR PONTOON BOAT WHEN IT STARTED RAINING. SHE GOT UNDER THE BOAT TO STAY DRY. HER HUSBAND WAS UNAWARE SHE WAS UNDER THE BOAT AND RAN HER OVER WHEN HE TRIED TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE RAIN. THE DEATH HAS BEEN RULED ACCIDENTAL.

MURDER IN JOHNSTOWN

JOHNSTOWN POLICE SAY 20 YEAR OLD LINSEY WOLFE WAS SHOT AND KILLED DURING A DOMESTIC DISPUTE SATURDAY NIGHT. HER BOYFRIEND, 25 YEAR OLD KYLE RODGERS, IS IN CUSTODY…CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE. IT HAPPENED INSIDE A HOME ON THE 700 BLOCK OF BLOOM STREET IN DALE BORO. WOLFE’S SMALL CHILD WAS INSIDE THE APARTMENT AT THE TIME, BUT WAS NOT INJURED. RODGERS’ PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED MAY 22ND.

HOUSE DESTROYED

FIRE DESTROYED PAT DRASS’ HOME IN THE 400 BLOCK OF RAILROAD STREET IN BELLWOOD EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. THE ALARM SOUNDED AROUND 2:45AM. ONE FIREFIGHTER WAS TREATED FOR A MINOR INJURY AT THE HOSPITAL. THE CAUSE OF THE BLAZE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. DAMAGE IS ESTIMATED AT OVER 200-THOUSAND DOLLARS.

OUT-OF-COUNTY JURY?

THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT THE CLAYSBURG MAN CHARGED WITH MAKING BOMB THREATS AGAINST THE BLAIR COUNTY COURTHOUSE…AND WATER CONTAMINATION THREATS AGAINST A LOCAL RESERVOIR…HAS REQUESTED AN OUT-OF-COUNTY JURY, DUE TO EXTENSIVE PUBLICITY ABOUT HIS CASE. 24 YEAR OLD ADAM HARDIN WAS AN INMATE WHEN HE ALLEGEDLY HACKED INTO THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON COMPUTER AND SENT THE EMAILS WHICH LED TO AN EVACUATION AROUND THE COURTHOUSE IN OCTOBER. RESIDENTS OF THE HOLLIDAYSBURG AREA WERE WARNED NOT TO CONSUME TAP WATER FOR 2 DAYS…WHICH FORCED SOME RESTAURANTS AND BUSINESSES TO CLOSE FOR A WEEKEND. THE JUDGE HAS SCHEDULED A HEARING JUNE 12TH.

ACCORDING TO THE CENTRE DAILY TIMES, ERICKSON PLANS TO REMAIN INVOLVED WITH THE UNIVERSITY, WHILE ALSO TAKING TIME TO FARM AND TRAVEL. ON FRIDAY, PENN STATE ANNOUNCED PLANS TO RENAME THE FOOD SCIENCE BUILDING IN ERICKSON’S HONOR.

PENN CAMBRIA TEACHER LAUREN KUDLAWIEC IS IN THE FINAL 3 FOR THE TOP PRIZE ON THE RACHAEL RAY SHOW ON CBS. SHE APPEARS AGAIN ON TODAY’S SHOW, AIRING AT 9AM ON WTAJ. THE WINNER GETS TO HAVE HIS OR HER RECIPES PUBLISHED IN A COOKBOOK.
