biker killed in centre county
A Centre County man was killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday AFTERNOON NEAR MILESBURG. STATE Police saY 27 YEAR OLD Travis Tumbleson OF MOSHANNON was riding his bike on Route 220 approaching the intersection of Eagle Valley Road. Another car was attempting a left-hand turn and pulled in front of his motorcycle. Tumbleson was not wearing a helmet. THE OTHER DRIVER, 76 YEAR OLD DAVID RODKEY OF BELLEFONTE, WAS NOT INJURED.
In Bedford County, a man from Hyndman is facing D-U-I charges after a police chase. troopers tried to stop Roger Logsdon on Route 56, but he fled his car while it was still in gear and ran away. The vehicle drifted backwards and hit the police cruiser. logsdon was caught and is in the Bedford County jail.
State police IN CAMBRIA COUNTY are investigating an accident involving an automobile and an ATV, which happened just after 6 Saturday EVENING near the 700 block of 5th Street in Cresson.
Both operators were tAKEN to Altoona Regional HEALTH SYSTEM. THEIR NAMES AND CONDITIONS HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED.
4 people were left homeless early Sunday morning when fire destroyed their house at 14-19 walton avenue in altoona. one member of christopher holland’s family was home at the time and was treated for smoke inhalation. the flames also damaged another building next door. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
triple murder trial to begin
Opening arguments are scheduled today in the triple murder trial of an indiana county man. 52 year old kevin murphy of conemaugh township is accused of murdering his mother, sister and elderly aunt 4 years ago.Westmoreland County D-a John Peck says Murphy killed the women at the automobile glass shop he owned because they disapproved of his relationship with a married woman. THE DEFENSE CLAIMS SOMEONE ELSE SHOT THE WOMEN.

the state superior court has ordered a new trial for paul aaron ross of hollidaysburg, convicted in the 2004 murder of tina miller at canoe creek state park. DEFENSE ATTORNEY TOM DICKEY SUCCESSFULLY ARGUED THAT HE DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO PREPARE FOR TRIAL…AND THAT THE JUDGE SHOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED ROSS’ FORMER GIRLFRIENDS TO TESTIFY ABOUT HIS PRIOR ABUSIVE BEHAVIoR. DURING A HEARING TODAY, BLAIR COUNTY JUDGE JOLENE KOPRIVA WILL RE-OPEN THE COURT RECORD. THE PROSECUTION CLAIMS DICKEY TOLD THEM THAT IF HE WERE ALLOWED TO BECOME ROSS’ ATTORNEY, HE WOULD NOT DELAY THE TRIAL AND HIS EXPERT WITNESSES WERE READY TO GO. DISTRICT ATTORNEY RICH CONSIGLIO HAS ASKED THE STATE SUPREME COURT TO OVERTURN THE SUPERIOR COURT RULING AND KEEP ROSS IN JAIL.

major money for special olympics
SUNDAY’S 4th annual Special Olympics Pennsylvania Beaver Stadium Run RAISED MORE THAN 360-THOUSAND DOLLARS. ABOUT 37-HUNDRED PEOPLE LACED UP THEIR SNEAKERS TO RUN OR WALK. THE MONEY WILL help fund Special Olympics projects around the state and provide support for the athletes to attend competitions. Former PENN STATE AND STEELERS running back Franco Harris received the first-ever Special Olympics Pennsylvania Community Hero Award for showing support and generosity to THE ORGANIZATION.
