TRANS-GENDER COUPLE WILL TESTIFY ABOUT PITT BOMB THREATS

A TRANSGENDER COUPLE IS SCHEDULED TO APPEAR BEFORE A GRAND JURY TOMORROW IN CONNECTION WITH THE RECENT BOMB THREATS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH. ACCORDING TO THE “TRIBUNE-REVIEW”, KATHERINE ANNE MCCLOSKEY AND SEAMUS JOHNSTON OF JOHNSTOWN THINK THEY MIGHT BE A TARGET BECAUSE OF A LAWSUIT JOHNSTON FILED AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OVER HIS RECENT EXPULSION. THE 22-YEAR-OLD IS UNDERGOING HORMONE THERAPY TO BECOME A MAN AND WAS CHARGED WITH INDECENT EXPOSURE FOR USING THE MEN’S LOCKER ROOM. MCCLOSKEY, WHO WAS BORN A MAN, IS A 1977 GRADUATE…AND SAYS SHE AND JOHNSTON WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING THAT WOULD COMPROMISE THEIR CAUSE FOR TRANSGENDER RIGHTS. 

HOMEMADE EXPLOSIVE THROWN INTO YARD

A LINCOLN TOWNSHIP, BEDFORD COUNTY, COUPLE SAYS AN A-T-V PASSENGER THREW A PLASTIC BOTTLE THAT EXPLODED INTO THEIR YARD SATURDAY AND THEY THINK IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE THEY ARE AN INTER-RACIAL COUPLE. MICHAEL CORLE TELLS WTAJ IT HAPPENED ALONG DARK HOLLOW ROAD…AND HIS WIFE’S FATHER AND THEIR 2-YEAR-OLD SON WERE JUST A COUPLE OF FEET AWAY WHEN THE BOTTLE EXPLODED. WRITTEN ACROSS THE BOTTLE IT SAID “IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS CALL”…THEN SOME RANDOM NUMBERS. STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING. 

DID BULLYING LEAD TO STABBING?

19 YEAR OLD TROY LLOYD OF NORTHERN CAMBRIA IS IN THE CAMBRIA COUNTY PRISON AFTER AN ALCOHOL-RELATED STABBING EARLY SATURDAY MORNING AT THE CHERRY RIDGE TERRACE APARTMENTS. NEIGHBORS SAY LLOYD ARGUED WITH ROGER ENGLISH OVER A CELL PHONE, THEN STABBED HIM IN THE CHEST. THE VICTIM WAS FLOWN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL HEALTH SYSTEM AND IS IN STABLE CONDITION. LLOYD’S FAMILY TELLS WJAC THAT LLOYD…WHO HAS A HISTORY OF MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES…HAS BEEN HARASSED AND BULLIED AT THE COMPLEX. 2 MEN AND A JUVENILE ARE CHARGED WITH BEATING LLOYD AFTER THE STABBING.

2 WOMEN KILLED IN WRECKS

THE DAUGHTER OF PENN STATE SOCCER COACH BOB WARMING WAS KILLED EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AFTER A WRONG-WAY CRASH ON AN EXIT RAMP OF INTERSTATE 376 IN PITTSBURGH. POLICE SAY 21 YEAR OLD AUDREY WARMING OF PORT MATILDA SLAMMED INTO ANOTHER CAR AT 2AM. 4 PEOPLE WERE INJURED, INCLUDING 2 PITTSBURGH WOMEN IN WARMING’S CAR. AUDREY WARMING IS SURVIVED BY HER PARENTS…A TWIN BROTHER, GRANT…AND 2 SISTERS.

67 YEAR OLD EMMA FLETCHER OF FALLENTIMBER DIED YESTERDAY MORNING AFTER A 2-VEHICLE CRASH IN BECCARIA TOWNSHIP, CLEARFIELD COUNTY. STATE POLICE SAY 34 YEAR OLD KRISTENA MARTIN OF FALLENTIMBER SWERVED INTO FLETCHER’S LANE TO AVOID A CAR THAT WAS TURNING ON ROUTE 53. BOTH WOMEN WERE TAKEN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL TRAUMA CENTER AND FLETCHER LATER DIED.

PEDESTRIAN INJURED

49 YEAR OLD HUINAN CAI WAS FLOWN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL TRAUMA CENTER SATURDAY NIGHT AFTER SHE WAS HIT BY A CAR ALONG WEST WHITEHALL ROAD IN STATE COLLEGE. BORO POLICE SAY CAI IS BELIEVED TO BE THE MOTHER OF AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT. SHE IS IN STABLE CONDITION. THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER 10PM AND THE VICTIM WAS WEARING DARK-COLORED CLOTHES. THE DRIVER OF THE CAR WASN’T INJURED.

6 D-U-I ARRESTS

ALMOST 600 MOTORISTS WERE STOPPED AT A NORTH ATHERTON STREET D-U-I CHECKPOINT AS THEY LEFT STATE COLLEGE FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING. 6 WERE CHARGED WITH DRUNK DRIVING.POLICE USED NEW HIGH-TECH FLASHLIGHTS THAT HAVE ETHANOL SENSORS TO DETECT THE PRESENCE OF ALCOHOL ON A DRIVER’S BREATH.

GRICAR ANNIVESARY

YESTERDAY MARKED THE 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE DISAPPEARANCE OF CENTRE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY RAY GRICAR… AND AUTHORITIES SAY THE TRAIL IS GROWING VERY COLD. MONTHS AFTER GRICAR WENT MISSING, HIS LAPTOP, MINUS ITS HARD DRIVE, WAS FOUND IN THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER. LAST APRIL, INVESTIGATORS REVEALED THAT BEFORE HE DISAPPEARED, SOMEONE USING GRICAR’S HOME COMPUTER SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR INFORMATION ON HOW TO WRECK A HARD DRIVE, HOW TO FRY A HARD DRIVE, AND WATER DAMAGE TO A NOTEBOOK COMPUTER.

STATE COLLEGE AND PENN STATE POLICE SAYS SOME FOOTBALLS AND OTHER MERCHANDISE HAVE BEEN SOLD ON E-BAY WITH FAKE JOE PATERNO AUTOGRAPHS. PATERNO’S SON, SCOTT, POSTED A MESSAGE ON HIS TWITTER ACCOUNT SUNDAY SAYING -- “IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF FAKE JVP AUTOGRAPHS ON E-BAY. IT’S BEING ADDRESSED, BUT PLEASE USE CAUTION.”

TAX DEADLINE TOMORROW

THE DEADLINE TO FILE TAX RETURNS IS TOMORROW, 2 DAYS PAST THE NORMAL APRIL 15TH DEADLINE. PEOPLE WHO STILL NEED MORE TIME SHOULD FILE FOR A 6-MONTH EXTENSION. THOSE WHO OWE MONEY THOUGH, STILL NEED TO PAY BY TOMORROW. OFFICIALS ALSO POINT OUT THAT NOT FILING A RETURN IS CONSIDERED INCOME TAX EVASION AND COULD RESULT IN INTEREST, FINES OR EVEN JAIL.
