LOCAL COMBAT MEDIC SAVES HIS OWN LIFE
A 22 YEAR OLD ARMY SENIOR COMBAT MEDIC FROM PINE GROVE MILLS, CENTRE COUNTY, lost his legs from THe knee down while trying to save fellow soldiers tuesday in afghanistan. officials say STATE COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE Adam Hartswick was responding to a roadside attack when He stepped on an I-E-D. HE REMAINED CONSCIOUS AND WAS ABLE TO TELL A PLATOON LEADER HOW TO TREAT HIM AND SAVED HIS OWN LIFE. HARTSWICK ALSO LOST BOTH INDEX FINGERS AND PART OF ONE THUMB. HIs hometown has set-up up a benefit fund at Clearfield Bank and Trust.

A closure is planned for both directions of the Turnpike starting tomorrow at midnight between the Somerset and Bedford Exits. weather permitting, crews will remove the bridge which carries Cider Road over the Turnpike in Juniata Township. the road will re-open at 4:30 sunday morning.
