fireworks are planned tonight and saturday at 10:15 at the park at morrison’s cove in martinsburg.
PennDOT and the State Police are reminding motorists that parking or standing along I-99 to watch the fireworks at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park and Lakemont Park is illegal. PennDOT will place message boards along the shoulders of portions of the highway and Troopers will enforce the parking restrictions. Local and state police statewide will also be on the lookout for impaired drivers over the 4th holiday.
4th fest is underway in state college and the parade of heros steps off at 2pm near the municipal building. The route will include portions of South Allen Street…East College Avenue…Shortlidge Road…Pollock Road…Bigler Road…and Curtin Road…ending near University Drive. The parade route will be closed to vehicle traffic from 2 until about 3:30 and Parking will be restricted.

26 YEAR OLD PATRICK BURKETT OF SUMMERHILL TOWNSHIP WAS SCHEDULED TO STAND TRIAL ON homicide CHARGES IN AUGUST, BUT THE trial HAS BEEN PUSHED BACK UNTIL OCTOBER BY A CAMBRIA COUNTY JUDGE. BURKETT IS charged in the 2012 death of 22-month-old RAEGAN PANICK WHOM he was babysitting. the mother RETURNED FROM work AND FOUND THE TODDLER unresponsive WITH A FRACTURED SKULL AND OTHER INJURIES. She DIED A DAY LATER at Children’s Hospital IN PITTSBURGH.
Altoona man CHARGED AFTER HIGH SPEED CRASH
THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT 57 YEAR OLD JAMES KUHN OF ALTOONA HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH CAUSING A HIGH SPEED CRASH IN FRONT OF THE JUNIOR HIGH ON JUNE 4TH. KUHN ALLEGEDLY CHASED A MINI-VAN DRIVEN BY DANIEL GOBLE OF OHIO AT SPEEDS UP TO 80 MILES PER HOUR. HE THEN HIT THE VAN AND IT SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND STRUCK A BRICK WALL, NEARLY SHEARING OFF A GAS LINE. 2 PEOPLE WERE EJECTED AND SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES. EARLIER THAT DAY, KUHN’S SON HAD BEEN ARRESTED IN A DOMESTIC INCIDENT AND KUHN HAD ALLEGEDLY THREATENED GOBLE WITH PEPPER SPRAY AND A KNIFE. GOBLE IS ALSO FACING CHARGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE CHASE.

21 YEAR OLD Anthony Sanders OF Johnstown WAIVED HIS PRELIMINARAY HEARING AND HAS BEEN ORDERED TO stand trial ON ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE CHARGES FOLLOWING the May 6TH gunbattle in Hornerstown that sent 4 people to the hospital. POLICE SAY SANDERS shot Antonio Kresic with a .40-caliber handgun he bought on the street for 100-DOLLARS. Sanders WAS also shot AND 2 OTHER MEN WERE TREATED FOR BULLET WOUNDS AT A PITTSBURGH HOSPITAL. NO WORD ON a motive.
