SANDUSKY DROPS DISMISSAL MOTION

JERRY SANDUSKY WAS BACK IN COURT YESTERDAY FOR A BRIEF HEARING WITH NO RULINGS FROM JUDGE JOHN CLELAND. DEFENSE ATTORNEY JOE AMENDOLA WITH DREW MOST OF THE REQUESTS IN HIS 95 PAGE MOTION, INCLUDING THE DISMISSAL OF CHARGES…BECAUSE HE INTENDS TO RE-FILE THEM AT A LATER DATE. AMENDOLA STILL WANTS POTENTIAL JURORS TO BE QUESTIONED SEPARATELY AND SEQUESTERED AS A JURY, BUT THE COMMONWEALTH HAS ALREADY AGREED. AMENDOLA SAYS FORMER PENN STATE OFFICIALS TIM CURLEY AND GARY SHULTZ HAVE INDICATED THEY WILL PLEAD THE 5TH AMENDMENT IF THEY’RE CALLED TO TESTIFY. THE TRIAL IS SET TO BEGIN JUNE 5TH, BUT THE DEFENSE IS STILL ASKING FOR A DELAY.

ALTOONA PRIEST’S VICTIM DIES IN OHIO

THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT 44 YEAR OLD MICHAEL HUTCHISON DIED THIS WEEK IN OHIO. IN THE 1990’S, THE FORMER ALTAR BOY RECEIVED A 2-POINT-7 MILLION DOLLAR JUDGEMENT IN A CIVIL CASE AGAINST THE REVEREND FRANCIS LUDDY AND THE ALTOONA-JOHNSTOWN CATHOLIC DIOCESE.
HUTCHISON CLAIMS LUDDY HAD SEXUALLY ABUSED HIM AS A CHILD. A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE MEDICAL EXAMINER’S OFFICE IN AKRON SAYS THE MANNER AND CAUSE OF DEATH HAVE NOT BEEN DETERMINED, PENDING TOXICOLOGY TESTS.

WARRANT ISSUED FOR ACCUSED BURGLAR

PATTON TOWNSHIP POLICE IN CAMBRIA COUNTY HAVE ISSUED AN ARREST WARRANT FOR JOSH HOLLIDAY OF THE PATTON AREA. HE’S ACCUSED OF BURGLARIZING SEVERAL HOMES IN CRESSON AND PATTON THEN TRYING TO SELL THE STOLEN JEWELRY AT BLAIR COUNTY ANTIQUE STORES AND PAWN SHOPS. POLICE SAY HOLLIDAY GAVE HIS REAL NAME TO ONE STORE, MAKING IT VERY EASY TO CONNECT HIM TO THE ROBBERIES. HOLLIDAY IS IN HIS MID 20’S…5-FOOT-10…WITH DARK HAIR AND BROWN EYES. HE’S NOT CONSIDERED TO BE DANGEROUS.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG RING BUSTED

CENTRE COUNTY AUTHORITIES SAY 7 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH AN ILLEGAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG RING. POLICE SAY 45 YEAR OLD LISA CLEVENSTINE WORKED AT THE OFFICE OF STATE COLLEGE DOCTOR EVAN BELL AND SHE STOLE A PRESCRIPTION PAD…THEN FORGED THE DOCTOR’S SIGNATURE AND D-E-A NUMBER. 48 ILLEGAL SCRIPTS WERE PASSED AT LOCAL PHARMACIES. ALL OF THE SUSPECTS ARE FREE ON BAIL.

SANTORUM HOPES TO DE-RAIL ROMNEY

THE WASHINGTON POST REPORTS THAT REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE RICK SANTORUM MET YESTERDAY WITH CONSERVATIVE LEADERS IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA TO GO OVER HIS PLANS FOR CONTINUING HIS CAMPAIGN. SOURCES SAY THE IDEA OF SANTORUM DROPPING OUT OF THE RACE IN THE NEAR FUTURE DID NOT SURFACE, BUT THE DISCUSSION FOCUSED ON THE STRUGGLING CAMPAIGN OF FORMER HOUSE SPEAKER NEWT GINGRICH AND IF A FINAL PUSH COULD BE MADE TO BRING CONSERVATIVES TOGETHER AND STOP MITT ROMNEY'S MOMENTUM. ONE PROMINENT REPUBLICAN SAYS SANTORUM IS EXHAUSTED AND IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLY LOSING THE PENNSYLVANIA PRIMARY APRIL 24TH. PENNSYLVANIA UNEPLOYMENT

PENNSYLVANIA IS AMONG THE STATES WITH THE LARGEST DECREASE IN UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS. THE ASSOCIATED PRESS REPORTS THE KEYSTONE STATE IS DOWN 19-HUNDRED-56 CLAIMS, DUE TO FEWER LAYOFFS IN THE ENTERTAINMENT, LODGING, FOOD SERVICE, CONSTRUCTION, PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, AND RETAIL INDUSTRIES.
