Memorial Day Weekend Programs - Prince Gallitzin State Park

Schedule of Environmental Programs
for Memorial Day Weekend!

Prince Gallitzin State Park

Saturday, May 25

3:00-4:30 pm – Treading Safely

Sunburn and deer ticks and snakes, oh my!  No matter what type of outdoor activities you enjoy, it’s important to put safety first.  Come discover some of the most commonly encountered hazards of the summer outdoors, and how you can safely avoid them, on this 1-mile walk in the woods.  Meet at Point Trailhead parking lot.

8:00-9:00 pm – Alien Invaders!

An invasion is taking place at Prince Gallitzin State Park, and probably even in your own backyard!  Find out who’s trying to overrun our neighborhoods and what you can do to stop these non-native invasive species.  Gather at the amphitheater for this program featuring a slideshow, and meet some local “alien” species.  Parking is available for non-campers.

Sunday, May 26

1:00-3:00 pm – Nature at the Beach

Stop by the nature table at the campground beach for some hands-on learning!  Discover the interesting world of insects, and chat with the park naturalist.

3:30-5:00 pm – Animal Signs Adventure

The hunt is on!  Come learn about the clues animals leave behind.  Then search for some on your own in a scavenger-type hunt.  Prizes will be given for completing the hunt.  Meet at the amphitheater.

Monday, May 27

10:00 am-12:00 pm – Nature at the Pond

Stop by the nature table at Pickerel Pond for some hands-on learning!  See if you can identify some common animal signs, and gather tips for finding some on your own.

1:00-3:00 pm – Nature at the Beach
