J.C. Blair Auxiliary to Celebrate 100 Years with Tea and Tour
Huntingdon, PA (8/28/13) –The Auxiliary to J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital invites everyone in the community to a Tea and Tour of the Hospital on Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the lobby of the hospital to celebrate the Auxiliary’s 100th anniversary and its many contributions to the Hospital.
The afternoon will begin at 1:15 p.m. with a short program and presentation of photographs featuring Auxiliary presidents since its inception 100 years ago. Past presidents who are able to attend will be recognized and honored for their service to the Hospital and the community. Officers of the current Auxiliary will present the framed photos to the Hospital for display.
Following the presentation, guided “behind-the-scenes” tours of the Hospital will begin every half hour, highlighting contributions of the Auxiliary in such areas as the Lab, Medical Imaging, Maternity, Cardiac Rehab, Surgical Services, and other departments.
Tea, sweets, and sandwiches will be served in the Main Lobby.
Current president Melanie MacDonald and past president Sharon Bookhamer have been organizing the event. Past President Donna King and current Auxiliary board member Mary Ellen Herbster researched Auxiliary presidents of the past and located their photographs. Local historian and framer Fred Lang collected and prepared the photographs for framing. Suzanne Snare, Auxiliary board member and owner of Suzanne’s Sweets, will provide baked goods for the tea, and Hospital staff members will conduct the tours.
The public is encouraged to join the Auxiliary in celebrating its centennial. This event is an opportunity for people to see areas of the Hospital not usually seen as a patient and to become more familiar with the Hospital’s services and how vital the work of the Auxiliary has been to the Hospital and the community. Membership applications will be available for those interested in joining the Auxiliary.
