The Central PA Civil War Round Table and the Centre County Historical Society Meeting

The Central PA Civil War Round Table and the Centre County Historical Society will hold a joint meeting on Tuesday, December 18, at the Centre Furnace Mansion in State College beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Anthony Kaye will speak on “Nat Turner’s God: The Making of a Slave Rebellion in Southhampton, Virginia.”

Mr. Kaye is an Associate Professor of History at Penn State University.  He received a 2009 fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities for a book he wrote about Nat Turner’s North Carolina slavery rebellion in 1831.  The book, “Alarm in the Neighborhood,” focuses on the neighborhood’s roll in the rebellion.

The Centre Furnace Mansion is located at 1001 E. College Avenue in State College.
