What: “Spirits of Staple Bend Tunnel”
When: Saturday, October 27, 2012 Tours start at 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM and 9:00PM.
Where: Meet at Staple Bend Tunnel trail head parking lot.

This family friendly event features park staff and volunteers as they share some of the darker stories of life and death on the Allegheny Portage Railroad. The tour includes a short bus ride to the tunnel and a walking tour through the tunnel itself.

Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site is located 10 miles west of Altoona, Pennsylvania off the Gallitzin exit of U.S. Highway 22. The park preserves portions of the first railroad crossing of the Allegheny Mountains. This unique railroad connected the eastern and western divisions of the Pennsylvania Mainline Canal.
